This Week in Startups Review Contest!

What, a contest you say?  For just writing a simple review?

Yep!

The rules are pretty straightforward : You write a review of TWiST episode #13.  What did you like?  What didn't you like?  Great episode of TWiST or GREATEST episode of TWiST?  Just lay it all down in a blog post.

What's the contest aspect?

Jason is giving away a $500 dollar iPhone gift card to the BEST review.  That means you can get an iPhone without giving Apple and Crazy (talented) Steve Jobs your first born!

Post it on your blog, or start a new blog and let TWiST be the first review, either way, email us a copy at contact@thisweekinstartups.com (so Jason knows where to look).

Write an awesome review, and get a brand new iPhone 3G S, and a few months of service.  Simple, right?

I think iPhone giveaways are actually losses for the recipients.

First, you have to pay tax on the gift card, as it's income.

On top of that, to actually use the iPhone, you have to switch to AT&T and get the iPhone plan.

If you were using a plain-jane cell phone before that, your monthly fee is likely to move than double.

If you're already using another smartphone with a similar plan, like a Palm Pre on Sprint with their unlimited data plan, you are still going to spend almost $2000 more over the life of the contract for the iPhone service under typical usage.

Just give away $500 cash.
